Open Role

Synheart.ai - Commercial Co-Founder

Own the business. Build the category. Synheart tells organizations whether their AI is actually working — and where their people have focus vs. burnout — from privacy-first, on-device signals. The technology works and is peer-reviewed. What’s missing is a commercial co-founder to build the go-to-market engine and turn it into a company.

WHAT YOU OWN (SCOPE)

• Enterprise go-to-market, 0 →1. Design the motion from scratch — ICP, messaging, sales process, pipeline. There is no playbook yet; you write it. • Closing. Personally run and close the first paid design partners into 50–500-employee orgs. You are in every room that matters: discovery, procurement, security & privacy review, champion-building, negotiation. • Pricing & packaging. Own how we price and package Synapse (per-seat), and the commercial narrative for a buyer who does not yet have a budget line for “AI effectiveness.” • Partnerships & ecosystem. Steward the Mila founding-partner relationship commercially; build the design-partner and channel ecosystem around it. • The commercial half of the raise. Own the revenue narrative, pipeline data, and the metrics investors underwrite — alongside Israel, in front of investors. • Commercial team. Make the first commercial hires (founding AE, customer success) once the motion is proven — and lead them. • Revenue accountability. Own the number. Forecast it, defend it, hit it.

ALREADY REAL (not a pitch deck)

• 13-person full-time team; a Mila startup, with Mila lined up as a founding research partner & flagship proving ground (1,500+ researchers). • Two live apps (Life + Pulse Focus) already collecting real cognitive data on-device. • Core inference peer-reviewed at ACM MobileHCI 2026; ~75% cross-subject (LOSO) on stress, effort & emotion — honest, reproducible, beats baseline. • Privacy by architecture — raw signals never leave the device. SOC 2 in progress. • Enterprise product (Synapse) built; raising a $5M seed now.

THE ROLE — COMMERCIAL CO-FOUNDER

You own everything on the revenue side. You’re the CEO of the business motion; I’m the CEO of the product & vision — a clean split, no stepping on each other. Concretely: enterprise go-to-market, 0 → 1 (design the motion, own the pipeline, close the first paid design partners — the procurement and security rooms are yours); pricing, packaging & the commercial narrative for a buyer who doesn’t have a budget line for “AI effectiveness” yet; partnerships (steward Mila commercially, build the design-partner ecosystem); the commercial half of fundraising; and your first commercial hires once the motion is proven. First 90 days measured concretely: signed paid pilots and a repeatable motion — logos and ARR, not activity. Real co-founder equity, day one.

WHO YOU ARE

You’ve personally closed enterprise deals in infra, dev-tools, security or AI — carried a real quota, sat in the security review, built the champion (not consumer, not agency/BD, not a strategy generalist). You’re a 0 →1 builder, not a scaler — early on the commercial side of a seed/Series-A startup and built the motion. You can sell a technical, category-creating product; “no budget line yet” energizes you. You want to co-found, not to be hired. And you care that we do this honestly — privacy-first, no surveillance, no overclaiming; trust is the whole edge. Montreal / Mila ecosystem preferred.

EXPECTATIONS — THE FIRST YEAR

Concrete, so we both know what “working” looks like. These are calibrated against the honest starting point: today there are zero paid logos — the first ones are what we close together. • First 30 days. Full context on product, science & current pipeline; a written, defensible commercial plan (ICP, motion, target logos, pricing hypothesis); in live conversations with the warmest 5–10 prospects. • By 90 days. First signed paid pilot(s) with a pre-registered success metric on the customer’s own KPI; a documented, repeatable sales process; a qualified pipeline you can forecast. • By 6 months. A small handful of paying design partners; early proof the motion repeats (not one heroic deal); pricing & packaging validated against real willingness to pay; a clear, evidence-based view of CAC and cycle length. • By 12 months. A predictable enterprise motion and a revenue base credible enough to anchor the Series A story; the first commercial hire made and ramping.

HOW WE’LL MEASURE YOU

Outcomes, not activity. Signed paid logos, ARR, pipeline quality, and a motion that repeats without you personally carrying every deal. Not calls booked, not decks sent, not “relationships built.” If in doubt: would an investor underwrite it? That’s the bar.

NICE TO HAVE

Prior founder or founding-team experience; a network of enterprise buyers in tech / R&D-heavy orgs; experience selling something privacy- or compliance-sensitive; French; familiarity with the Mila / Canadian AI ecosystem.

WHO YOU ARE (MUST-HAVES)

  • • You have personally closed enterprise deals in infra, dev-tools, security, or AI — carried a real quota, owned the number, sat in the security review, built the champion.
  • • You are a 0→ 1 builder: early on the commercial side of a seed / Series-A startup where you built the motion, not inherited one.
  • • You can run evangelical, category-creating selling — comfortable when the buyer has no budget line yet and you have to create the need.
  • • You want to co-found: mostly-equity, full ownership of the number, willing to be the commercial face of the company in public and to investors.
  • • You operate honestly — privacy-first, no surveillance framing, no overclaiming. Trust is our entire moat; you protect it in every deal.
  • • Full-time, based in Montreal or able to be present in the Mila ecosystem.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR (SO WE DON’T WASTE EACH OTHER’S TIME)

  • A strategy / BD / “business generalist” who hasn’t personally closed deals. This is a carrying-the-bag role, not a slides-and-partnerships role.
  • • A scaler who needs an existing playbook, a team, and inbound to be effective. There is none of that yet — you create it.
  • • Someone who wants a title and equity without the number. The scorecard is revenue; there is nowhere to hide from it, and that’s the point.
  • • Someone chasing a salary-first, big-company package. Cash is modest and founder-level now; the upside is ownership.
  • • Anyone comfortable overselling or blurring the privacy story to close faster. That’s an instant no — it’s the one thing that kills the company.

THE PARTNERSHIP (HOW WE’LL WORK)

  • A clean split, agreed up front to avoid friction: Israel owns product, science, technology & the fundraising story; you own revenue, go-to-market, commercial partnerships & the commercial hires. Shared, as equals: company strategy, fundraising, culture, and the biggest hires. We disagree in private and present as one to the team, customers & investors. Decisions in your domain are yours to make and own; the same is true for Israel’s. Co-founders, not a founder and a VP.

COMPENSATION

  • Meaningful co-founder-level equity, with standard 4-year vesting (1-year cliff). Cash is a modest founder salary now, stepping up with the seed round — we’re honest that this is an ownership bet, not a comp package. The specifics are an open, early conversation, not a surprise at the end.

PROCESS

  • (1) A 30-minute call with Israel — context & fit. (2) A working session on the actual commercial problem (we’ll dig into a real target account together — you’ll see exactly how we think, and we’ll see how you sell). (3) Deep-dives with the team + references, both directions. (4) Terms. We move fast for the right person.
