The Role

This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who will set the architecture, lead the software team, and own how our stack ships to customers. You’ll define how different pieces of our technical architecture come together, from perception to action – all on device on the robot itself –, and lay the foundation of the cloud platform that deploys and monitors our fleet, turning it all into one coherent product that gets shipped, iterated, and hardened in the real world. You will lead a small, growing software team and work side by side with our ML and robotics engineers, who own the depth in their respective areas. Your job is to set the architecture, define the interfaces, and make sure the whole thing ships and holds up in production.

What You'll Do

  • Architect the software framework. Own the end-to-end architecture that brings our core systems together into one reliable, deployable product.
  • Build the cloud + fleet platform. Lay the foundation for the services and infrastructure that connect our deployed robots to the cloud and let us manage them at scale.
  • Lead the software team. Set technical direction, run design and code reviews, and grow the team as we scale.
  • Own the path to production. Take the software from working in the lab to running reliably on real robots in the field, and keep it stable as the fleet grows.
  • Own data and training infrastructure. Design the pipelines that turn data from our robots into better models over time.
  • Bridge simulation and reality. Build the workflows that let engineers move safely and quickly between simulation and real robots.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 8+ years shipping production software in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded/real-time systems, or another performance-critical domain. You have taken systems from prototype to real customers, not just to a demo.
  • Systems architect: Track record of designing non-trivial systems end to end. You are comfortable making tradeoffs across latency, reliability, safety, developer velocity, and cost, and defending them.
  • Technical leadership: Experience leading a small software team, setting direction, running design and code reviews, and growing engineers around you.
  • Strong systems programming: Expert in C++ and/or Rust, fluent in Python.
  • Experience: 8+ years shipping production software in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded/real-time systems, or another performance-critical domain. You’ve taken systems all the way to real customers in the field.
  • Systems architect: Track record of designing non-trivial systems end to end. You’re comfortable making tradeoffs across latency, reliability, safety, developer velocity, and cost.
  • Edge + cloud range: Experience building software that runs reliably on-device with real-time constraints, and the backend/cloud infrastructure that supports a fleet at scale.
  • Technical leadership: Experience leading a small software team, setting direction, running design and code reviews, and growing engineers around you.
  • Strong systems programming: Expert in C++ and/or Rust, fluent in Python.

Bonus Points

  • Prior experience taking a robotic or autonomous product from pilot to a deployed fleet.
  • Practical experience with at least one simulation environment such as MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or similar.
  • Experience building or operating data and experiment-tracking pipelines that ML teams actually use.
  • Hands-on experience with real robots, teleoperation, and robotics middleware (ROS/ROS2 or equivalent). You understand what breaks between the simulator and the real world.
